                  (b) In Progress

      (1) Identification of Disease Resistance traits in the Ecotypes of the Nigerian Indigenous Chickens.

This research is designed to investigate and identify different parameters that could be used to measure the degree of disease susceptibility in the different ecotypes of the Nigeria indigenous breeds of chickens. The different breeds has been identified, data has been collected for one of the parameters to be measured. Efforts are on to acquire experimental birds to be used for other parameters.

(2) Effects of various combinations of anaesthetic agents on the ECG of Indigenous pigeons.

This study is aimed at determining the baseline parameters of the cardiac function of the pigeon as a model for other aviary birds administered cocktail anaesthetic agents. A pilot study has been concluded and pigeons for the experimental phase have been acquired.

(3) Sperm morphology of different eco- types of the Nigerian indigenous ducks under different management conditions.

This study is designed to evaluate the quality and morphological characteristics of the semen of the Nigerian indigenous ducks raised under different managemental conditions. The experimental phase has been concluded and the manuscript is under review.
