     On behalf of the entire staff and students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, it is my honor and privilege to welcome you to the website of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan.

 

       Veterinary Medicine is the branch of science that deals with the diagnosis (detection), treatment, control, and prevention of animal health and production problems, including diseases, genetic and nutritional disorders,  injuries, and poisoning, their social and economic implications. The scope of veterinary medicine is wide, covering all animal species, both domestic and wild, as well as in captivity within zoological gardens and wildlife conservation parks. A broad range of conditions is involved that include diseases at the human-animal-environment interface.


Veterinary science is directly linked to human health in the surveillance and control of zoonotic diseases (infectious and infestations transmissible from animals to humans), food safety, food security, and veterinary epidemiology and informatics.
