Dr. Olumide Samuel Ajani is the Head of the Department of Theriogenology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is an Associate Professor (Reader) and a Consultant Theriogenologist at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University of Ibadan. Dr. Ajani's academic journey is grounded in a robust educational background, which includes a National Diploma in Animal Health and Production Technology (Distinction), a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), a Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc.), and a PhD in Theriogenology, all from the University of Ibadan.
With extensive training from Michigan State University in grant writing, curriculum development, reproductive biology, toxicology and advanced molecular diagnostic techniques, Dr. Ajani’s teaching interests span Veterinary Andrology, Gynecology, Obstetrics, Reproductive Biology, and Toxicology. His research focuses on the reproductive toxicity of environmental chemicals and medicinal plants, aiming to uncover the mechanisms behind infertility and reproductive anomalies. He is also deeply engaged in the study of alternative medicine through herbal analysis and integrated environmental research.
Dr. Ajani’s academic contributions include peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and conference proceedings. He has supervised numerous graduate students and continues to serve as an internal/external examiner and sectional editor for various veterinary journals. His work has earned him grants from prestigious bodies such as the Federal Government of Nigeria, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Tertiary Education Trust Funds (Tetfunds).
As Ag. Head of Department, Dr. Ajani plays a key role in advancing research and education within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. His leadership extends beyond academic administration, involving collaborations with international scholars and contributing to curriculum development in veterinary education.
